CAVS Extension is a major component of the Bagley College’s Engineering Engagement and Outreach Service (EEOS). Our operational concept is to develop capabilities based on the needs of the automotive industry and to leverage the resulting programs for the benefit of all manufacturing sectors within the state. This concept is achieved through a variety of approaches. One approach is to facilitate technology transfer, drawing upon subject matter expertise from across MSU’s Bagley College of Engineering, for the benefit of Mississippi industry. This has resulted in applied research projects drawing upon a variety of disciplines including Finite Element Analysis, Simulation Modeling, Welding Engineering, Ergonomics, and Material Science. A complementary effort is to offer projects and professional development workshops in areas of best practices. This has resulted in the development and delivery of substantial offerings in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Metrology, and Welding for Engineers.
